Damien Rice, Irish singer-songwriter, musician and record producer, began his musical career as a member of the 1990s rock group Juniper. After leaving Juniper, he began a solo career in 2001. His debut album, O, which reached No. 8 on the UK Albums Chart in 2002, won the Shortlist Music Prize and generated three top-30 singles in the UK. Rice's personal activities include musical contributions to charitable projects such as the Song of Tibet, Freedom Campaign and the Enough Project. In 2018, after his first show in Bucharest, Damien surprised his fans by having an ad-hoc singing session for one and a half hours behind the National Opera House.
